Pilgrims that get this far on their way to Santiago de Compostela chose between two paths, the Coast or Inland. The Coastal Route was the first route open by European Christianity, sheltered from the dangerous lands to the south and the Muslims living there. Nowadays it is a lovely three stage route over the cliffs, next to the sea, from Irun to Deba.

After walking from Irun, the pilgrims enter the city of San Sebastian. Thus, they end up arriving at the expansion, where our Cathedral is located, recognized by its imposing 75-meter-high tower.

We invite you to enter our temple and pray before the beautiful image of the Apostle Saint James, located in the Altarpiece of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

  • Welcome

We welcome you with open arms.

  • Blessing

The blessing is imparted to pilgrims who request it.

  • Credential

We stamp your pilgrim credential. You can also obtain it in the sacristy.

At the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd of Donostia / San Sebastian we welcome pilgrims who cross our city on their way to the tomb of the Apostle Saint James in Compostela.

HELP US

The temple is God’s house and ours. Let’s collaborate to keep it worthy. If you wish to collaborate in the conservation of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd of San Sebastian or in its activities, make a donation.

Self-financing is the challenge that we Catholics take on, because the maintenance of our community is in our hands. This is done through subscription, which is convenient, stable and deducts taxes in the Income Tax Return.

THANK YOU!
